As a little girl I was a gymnast and it defined who I was through and through. I didn’t quite fit in with my schoolmates but where I found solace and grounding was with my teammates and in the gym. Once that period of my life ended abruptly, I began to struggle with finding my place and purpose in the world. The one downside that came with gymnastics was the exposure to the high value put on being petite and thin. Coupled with a social environment focused on outer appearance, my struggles resulted in full blown anorexia nervosa by the time I was 17 years old which landed my 90 pound bag of bones on a 5’6″ frame in the hospital 2 months after my high school graduation.
That healing journey spanned 3 years, rewiring my connection with myself, food and the world. Rebuilding relationships, discovering what I love and learning to trust my body in relation to food. 1,095 days to trust myself, trust that I could eat a bagel and my body wouldn’t expand exponentially, eat some ice cream with sheer joy without negative self-talk dominating my mind crowding out any possibility of being present in the world.
Nearly 8 years later, I was working in the corporate arena. Unfulfilled and on a trajectory I could not commit to for the rest of my life, I left my corporate position. I headed overseas, first to Israel for eight months followed by Southeast Asia for four months. It was in the ancient city of Ayutthaya, Thailand that I discovered Naturopathic medicine. Ahhh!!! I finally found it, I knew this was the medicine I aligned with. Its principles, the blending of both modern western medicine and ancient traditional modalities like botanical medicine, homeopathy, nature cure, Chinese medicine and Ayurveda…Yes! I finally found it…this was how I was going to help people.
And so I applied…on my iPhone 4s, as I moved from one city to the next, from one country to the next Thailand, then Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia and finally Bali where as I sat on the beach in the Gili Islands, wrote my personal statement and hit “submit” on my applications.
Fast forward one more time, to today, 10 years later, I’m proud to be able to call myself a Naturopathic Doctor licensed to practice medicine in the state of Connecticut as well as acting as a Naturopathic consultant to people worldwide.
Combining my training in natural medicine with 20+ years of self-development and mindset work I primarily work with women in personalized wellness programs to dive deep, get to the root cause and bring about real transformation in one’s health.
Living in the jungles of Bali I am now committed to paying forward all that I have learned both through my schooling and my life journey to help women just like you live their best life mind, body and soul.
